Online route planning for bike tours in the Brandenburg Lake District: with the waypoint manager, it’s now a breeze.

The route planner is based on “Route Picker,” an open-source project by the Mittelstand-Digital Center for Tourism. The map engine is MapLibre GL JS, using tiles from OpenFreeMap (based on OpenStreetMap).

The interface design was optimized for integration with WordPress, and the application itself was adapted for responsive display. Points are edited in the backend using Excel lists and specific GPX files. This ensures that the data remains up-to-date and reliable.

The tool has also been enhanced with the following features: full-screen mode, geolocation, sharing feature, and reset.
